Our programming helps us do deepen our knowledge of God, our faith, and our awareness of our place in God’s creation. Many of our programs allow folks to use their unique gifts in order to build up the community and the church, which then leads us to what we feel God calls us to do in the world.
Adults meet on Sunday’s at 9:30am for a lively discussion on a preselected topic of interest; it may be a particular book in the Bible, a book study, or other theological topic or concept.
Youth & Children’s Formation
Our children gather on Sundays (September-May) at 10:30 for Sunday School. In the summer months the church sponsors “Activity Days,” which are trips to local and regional attractions, looking at the activities from a Christian point of view. For example, a pool day might lead to discussion of Noah’s Ark, or a nature walk a conversation about the Hebrew people wandering in the wilderness. Youth age 7 and up also serve in Sunday worship as torchbearers, Gospel Book bearers, crucifers and Altar servers. These servers are called Acolytes.
For those with musical or vocal talent we have a choir that sings during our 10:30am service on Sundays, as well as other special occasions throughout the year.
We are all ministers in God’s Church by virtue of our baptism. There are two ways in which St. James’ does ministry; we minister to each other through our In-Reach programming, and we take care of our neighbors through our Outreach programming. Below are some of the unique ministries in which we participate in, but we are certainly not limited to just these opportunities!
Prayers & Squares
This ministry distributes homemade quilts which are tied by members of the congregation (while saying a prayer) to people we lift in prayer.
Feed the Flock
A ministry of the church where our members prepare a meal for our members who may be going through a life change (birth, illness, or death of a loved one).
In participation with the Shepherd’s Center, meals are prepared in our kitchen and delivered to local homebound seniors.
St. James’ is home to several 12-Step and Alanon meetings most days and evenings of the week. Check our building use calendar for more information.
